Cishan Tianhou Temple

Phone:886-7-6616100 Address:800 No.16, Lane 23, Yongfu St., Cishan District, Kaohsiung City 842, Taiwan (R.O.C.)
Cishan Tianhou Temple was ostensibly built in 1816, and took 8 years to complete. Having a history over 180 years, it is the only Cing temple left, and has been the religious center for Cishan people. The main hall is dedicated to Matsu Lin Mo-niang, with the Local Deity on the left side and the Goddess of Fertility on the right. Besides, the left wing used to be "Fongyinsheng Chinese Classical Music Club," while the right wing was "Jiyue Beijing Opera Club." As far as architecture is concerned, it is a two-hall, two-wing palace with traditional clip-and-paste decorations, the grand layout makes it sublime and splendid. It is kept intact, with an artistic atmosphere of archaic vividness. Some stone sculptures remain as they were in the past, such as the stone lions, dragon pillars, orbs, stone piers, and cornerstones—a place that can't be missed.
