The "Tower of Light" was originally located in Sanmin's No.1 Park, across the road from The Hakkanese Historical Museum. It was once used as a Taipower high voltage power tower. With the construction of an underground cable project, it was on the brink of being scrapped. The Kaohsiung City Government actively persuaded Taipower to retain one for commemorative purposes. After successfully lobbying for a budget of NT$40 million, ecological concepts were incorporated into the design to use solar power to illuminate the "Tower of Light". It is now another great landmark in Kaohsiung's skyline at night. Photos:
