The Kaohsiung Gallery of Vision was the old Kaohsiung City Train Station during the Japanese Colonial Era, its exterior an imposing example of "mixed Japanese-Western architecture", while its interior is a Western-style porch and hall. This old railway station was moved to a nearby unused area in 2002 in order when the KMRT, high rail, and railway was being constructed, allowing visitors to become reacquainted with its bygone splendour in its new role as a "digital museum".
