Originally the headquarters of the Kaohsiung Municipal Government, the building was refurbished after the Municipal Government moved in 1992, and is Taiwan's first museum of history run by a municipal government. The exhibits record the hardships endured by our predecessors amid the grueling process of clearing mountain forest they endured through the precious artifacts exhibited in the museum and the Museum's varied research and promotion activities, making more of the public understand the course of Kaohsiung's development.
