There are many delightful settings around Lake Placid, but the exquisite Chinese Suzhou Garden designed by Huang Yong-hong is most popular of all. Unlike most Chinese gardens, its architectural elements are made out of steel rather than wood. Nevertheless, it still manages to look and feel very Chinese. Its mix of East and West is the best representation of the spirit of the Hsinchu Science Park. The garden features a winding colonnaded corridor, Chinese style windows and arched doors, and a lotus pond. Every summer, when the lotuses are in full bloom, the garden becomes a favorite spot for wedding photos. In the plaza outside the garden there is a sculpture by the renowned sculptor Ju Ming. The work-Single Whip Dip-is from his award-winning Taichi series.
