The Ciming Temple is a Wu Temple (Martial Temple) and is located on the southwest bank of Lotus Pond. This palace style building was constructed in 1898 and is a magnificent Oriental building dedicated to Guan Yu, who was a hero of the Chinese historical Shu Han Era. The golden statue is very impressive. On Guan Yu's birthdays, Chang Yu, a resident, would hold great celebrations at the temple. In the front of the temple are two Chinese palace style pagodas known as Spring and Autumn. These were built in 1951 in order to commemorate the Saint of Martial Prowess Guan Yu. These were built with exquisite craftsmanship and were lavishly decorated, making them an impressive sight. The pond's scenery can be viewed from the pagodas. The Half-Moon Pool (Releasing Life Pool) in front of the temple has a statue of the Kwanyin Goddess riding a Dragon. A small bridge links the two pagodas, together they are known as the "Spring and Autumn Pagodas". The Kwanyin Goddess exudes grace and compassion, while the countless turtles in the pool, are considered a symbol of heavens' favor upon the place. The Wuli Arbor at the center of the bridge is a great place to appreciate the Lotus blossoms in Summer. Enter through the dragon's mouth on the bridge, and there are beautiful colored frescoes within the cave as well as an idol. There is no entrance fee, however please make a donation in the box provided. Photos:
