The mangrove reserve behind Sicao Dazhong Temple is home to 50-plus year- old of primeval mangroves growing at both sides of the river drainage channel behind the temple that naturally forms a beautiful tunnel-like canopy. It's called “mini Amazon forest” by local people. Tourists can also be led to impressive sights of egret, black-crowned Night Herons or other birds on the banks of the river. The beautiful mangrove reserve behind Sicao Dazhong Temple has four different species of mangroves, Rhizophora stylosa, Kandelia candel, Lumnitzera racemosa and Avicennia marin. Tourists can see fiddler crabs and mudskippers under mangroves by telescope that makes it the best natural place for tourists having an eco-tour as well as a beautiful natural scene for photographers.
