Bagua Mountain Skywalk was built by the Changhua County Government to connect all the sightseeing venues in Changhua with the arrangements and ideas of point, line, and plane. It connects all the sightseeing spots located at the north-south direction, functioning to expand the touring area of the Great Bagua Mountain Buddha Statue. Constructing an ecological and educational recreation zone for parents and children, it re-creates the image of the Great Buddha Statue with the purpose of promoting the development of tourism in Changhua County and constructing a comfortable and leisure environment for people. The skywalk is built with a light steel framework, with the form constituted by the railing-lines. Part of its routes run through Guashan Road, built along the meandering slopes of the hill where the Great Buddha Statute is situated. There are seven entrances along the way, with a total length of 1005m. The highest point of the skywalk is 16m above the ground and most of the path is about 7m to 8m above the ground. Connecting the landmarks of Changhua – the Great Buddha Statue on Bagua Mountain to Changhua Living Art Center, there are the scenic spots of the lotus ecological park, Martyrs’ Shrine, baseball stadium, Changhua Arts Senior High School, and more. From active scenes to still scenes, there are historic monuments, scenes from elevated spots, forests for tourists to walk around and enjoy the beauty of interlacing crown canopies, and more that constituted the “Skywalk.” It is the highest skywalk in Taiwan. Opening hours: At present, it is open to the public around the clock for free. However, lights will be turned off daily at 10:00pm to avoid disturbing the local ecology. Visitors should consider their situations when entering. During bad weather, earthquake, typhoon and other emergencies, for the safety issues, the skywalk will be closed temporarily without further notice.
