The ancient path was originally covered with mud. To make the walk easier to the pilgrims, stone pavements came into place in 1923. There is a monument on the side, as a memorial to the road opening. Tall trees grow along the sides and it takes about 30 minutes to complete the walk. At the end of the path is Zhengnan Temple. Built under Guangxu Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, the temple serves Stone Matzu, a naturally formed rock. Locals say that Stone Matzu answers all prayers. The square of Zhengnan Temple demands a complete view of downtown Shenkeng. It is a great place to go over the weekends.
