In the past, Ruikai people called Meiya Valley "A-Sia-Na" which means a beautiful valley of waterfalls, fishes and shrimps. There is a hiking trial which may takes you around 30 minutes to walk there and back again. A 15-minute walk will take you to Meiya Suspension Bridge, and soon Meiya Waterfall is in sight. The river water flows all year round. A summer visit takes away humidity. On the way from Wanshan Village to Meiya Waterfall, there is an upward side road with tiny stones all over it. It leads to a historical ruin of stone house called "Ma-Yia" where visitors can know the tribal life style of Rukai tribe in Maulin without walking into the ruins.
