Tamkang Secondary School has a long history. It originates from Dr. Mackay's establishment of the Oxford School of Tamsui for Girls in 1882 and lasted through the Japanese Occupation period. In 1956, it emerged as today's Tamkang Private High School. One of the most unique school buildings is the Octagonal Tower. It is a popular location for shooting films and commercials, and the school has made the campus open to public. Besides old classroom buildings, there are also preserved indigenous stone houses, the Taiwan Farming Culture Museum and a corner garden for agricultural education on campus. What's more, a collection of Taiwan's earliest diplomas, class photographs and other memorabilia can be found here, too.
