Hutong Ancient Trail

Phone:886-2-29603456 Address:232 Pinglin
During the Japanese occupation period a massacre threw a dark, mysterious veil over the Hutong Ancient Trail, turning it into a desolate place. To commemorate these early settlers who perished, the government decided to lift that veil by restoring the trail along with adding informative signposts along the route. The entrance to the trail is located to the left of the Qianyuan Temple, and it takes about an hour to reach the former location of Hutong Village. For early settlers taking the Beiyi Ancient Trail, this village was a stopping ground on the way to Pinglin. When the skies are clear, the trail alternates between sunlight and shade provided by the tree cover, making a refreshing, pleasant hike.
