The old station was the most prosperous area of Banqiao in the old days， just like the new station area of today. Built in 1952， the old station was the second largest railway station in Taiwan with over 60，000 passengers every day. The busy traffic once created tremendous business opportunities here. After the new station construction was completed and Taipei Metro service kicked off here， this area declined for a while. Now this place has once again become a busy shopping area with different stores， gourmet food， and a night market. Goods sold here reflect latest fashion trends at affordable prices. You can even find new decorations not to be found in Taipei City. That's why this place has become the Ximending of New Taipei City as a lot of young people like to come here.
