This place was the old location of Air Force Village No. 11, called Hu Pan Liao Ting in the Japanese Colonial Era. It is next to the Lichih Pond and faces Hsinchu Zoo. Hu Pan Liao Ting was a high-class social place where, during that time, the Japanese treated high-level officials and wealthy businessmen. Only influential Japanese, businessmen or Taiwanese tycoons could afford to dine there. According to the elderly who lived nearby, the Taiwanese could only watch this beautiful waterside building from a distance. After 1950, single pilots were first settled here; afterwards their families also settled here. Then the name of this place was changed to "Air Force Village No.11." Because military villages have been rebuilt, all families here have moved out in the end of September 1999. Today, the Village, revived by the Municipal Government, has become a lakeside club for everyone - Lakeside Club of Citizens. For nearly a 70-year period, Hu Pan Liao Ting bore the imprints of its history with its fine Japanese garden and special character.
