Yongjia Scenic Trail in the Red Dragon Mountain is located at Chongde Rd. in the mountainside. There are two entrances that you can get into the destination. The first entrance is at Ln. 10, Chongde Rd (walk from An 1st Rd) and the second is the stairway on the side of Liu Ming-Chuan Tunnel. With the spacious views and complete planning, when the tourists go along the stairway, you will see the gun emplacement and temple.It is said in the Red Dragon Mountain that in the end of Qing Dynasty and the early of Republic of China there was a fisherman who had an extremely good practice. He did his job near the ocean of Keelung Island for many years. When he saw Red Dragon Mountain from the Keelung Island with sunset, he found that the Red Dragon Mountain was like a red dragon which lay on the mountain, therefore, it is called the famous Red Dragon Mountain. Besides, this is an important place of Qing troops during the Sino-French War. Thus, along the way the tourists can watch the obsolete fort of Qing and when you go hiking, you also can sense the trace of history.In Yongjia Scenic Trail, it will take you about 40 minutes one way. The road is not too long and hill is not steep, so the tourists can choose the good way to walk. In addition to hiking, you can view the scenic of Keelung Harbor along the entire trail. It is a good place to enjoy hiking and viewing the scenic. Although the mountain in Keelung is not very high, the tourists still can see the night scenes. There is a scene pavilion in Red Dragon Mountain, so the tourists can understand the location of Keelung. The tourists can also walk to Liu Ming-chuan Tunnel and ShiqiulingFort when hiking in the Yongjia Scenic Trail. Or, you also can extend your hiking to Lovers Lake and Waimushan Coastal Boulevard. So, it is worth of visiting for tourists.
