The Manyueyuan National Forest Recreation Area is 1,573 hectares large and in mountain country. It spans a wide range of elevations, from 300 to 1,728 meters, and it is surrounded by mountains, including Manyueyuan, Hsiongkong South, Beichatian, Laka, and Dongyan. Passing through it is Ruizai Creek. The area's large elevation changes and precipitous mountain valley are suited to waterfall formation, and the area has even earned the nickname "Waterfall Paradise." Its greatest waterfall takes its name from the park, and a short distance behind it is Yinlian Waterfall. Also on a tributary off to the left of Ruizai Creek is Chunu Waterfall, which is nicknamed "Hongsha Waterfall" in reference to the frequent rainbows that appear. Not far from the recreation area, at the confluence of Laka and Jhongkeng creeks, is the Chienhu Chuanchi Ecological Farm. At this tourism fish farm and theme park, visitors can admire the mountain forest scenery and try fresh fish raised in the clear upstream rivers of Sanxia. Some of the best include the nutritious high mountain rainbow trout and nourishing emperor sturgeon dishes which promote metabolism.
