Built in 1919, the Jianguo Brewery was operated as the Takasago Brewery during the Japanese occupation period. At that time, it was as well known as the Sapporo Brewery in Hokkaido. After Taiwan's retrocession, the Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau acquired the facility and renamed it as the Jianguo Brewery in 1975. In 2007, the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTLC) renamed the site as the Taipei Brewery. Visitors can order food and beverages at the brewery restaurant. TTLC spirits and other souvenir items are also displayed and sold here.
