Following an illustrious career at the Vienna Philharmonic, Maestro Henry Mazer came to Taiwan to conduct the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra. Taipei Philharmonic and Henry Mazer Music and Cultural Center was built in memory of Mr. Mazer, who passed away in 2002 at the age of 84. The lower level of the center is devoted to exhibits on Mr. Mazer, along with a rehearsal room and listening room. The exhibition area features belongings of Mr. Mazer along with photographs of the orchestra and its former conductor. There is also a café with wireless internet connection. Visitors can also listen to CD and vinyl recordings or browse the music-related books on display along with DVDs of international orchestras.
