Don't feel bad if the word "Keteleeria" doesn't ring a bell for you. The pine-tree looking plant is a very rare relict from the Ice Age. There are only 400 specimen of this endangered plant genus in Taiwan， hence the government set up a reserve area when keteleeria was discovered in Pinglin. Crossing the Gushuizun Trail and then going further into the mountain will lead you to the rare tree.
