The temple was originally called "Changfuyang", which was renovated by the deceased artist Li Meishu. The temple has been the local religious center since the mid Qing dynasty. The main body of the temple has been rebuilt several times because of destruction caused by earthquakes and wars. After the restoration of Taiwan, the famous artist Li Maishu volunteered to take on the renovation work and led a group of art college students to undertake the long-term restoration project. In addition to complicated traditional techniques, Li also introduced several innovative craftsman skills, especially in exquisite copper relief and statues. Dubbed as an oriental art palace, this temple is a dream-come-true of an artist who combines artistic skills of Japan and Europe in his work. There is always a metaphor or a story to tell at any corner of this place, which is not only a busy temple, but also a piece of architecture with very high artistic value.
