There are two things that any visitor to Dabangen must do: breathe in the fresh forest air and take a dip in the hot springs. Dabangen was a tea-producing area during the Japanese occupation period, and it still has many recreation sites and facilities, including Taiwan's only mid- to low-elevation virgin tropical rainforest. Some of the main characteristics of greenery in a tropical rainforest include tall trees, buttress roots, and climbing plants, and all of these are on display in Dabangen, much to the delight of visitors. Also in the recreation area are three hiking trails of varying difficulty, so visitors can pick a trail well-suited to their needs. For an even more fulfilling experience, you can hike with a park guide, who can provide abundant information on the insects and plants that you encounter on your journey. After a walk, an excellent way to relax is in one of the park's renowned hot springs. The water in the springs is changed daily to put bathers' minds at ease.
