It is said that hot spring was discovered in Wulai by Atayal tribesmen. Wulai means "hot spring" in the tribal language. There are two kinds of hot springs in Wulai: carbonic acid springs and sodium bicarbonate springs. As both of them are good for skin hydration and revitalization， they are also called beauty spas._ Although the beauty effects vary， everybody finds a hot spring bath refreshing， especially drinking some water after the bath. If you want to soak in hot spring for free， you can try the public hot springs on the bank of the Nanshi River， if you are not so concerned with the privacy issue.
