Located in the East District of Tainan City, Longshan Temple is among the 7 major Buddhist temples and 8 Taoist temples of Tainan Fu Cheng. Originally, the temple was built in a location elsewhere, but it was torn down and a new one rebuilt here during a certain period of the Japanese occupation era. Longshan temple originated from the ruling period of Zhang during the Ming dynasty. Later on, believers obtained incense ashes and invited Guan Yin bodhisattva from Anhai Longshan Temple in Fujian province. And it was not until the ruling period of Kangxi in Ming dynasty that the local residents had solicited enough funds to enshrine the Quan Yin statue and to complete the construction of the temple.
