This is the first museum in Taiwan to be incorporated into the articles of association of a national university. The Museum of National Cheng Kung University consists of the main museum, campus environment and faculty museums. The main museum boasts the most diverse collection, with the permanent exhibition and special exhibition rooms housed inside the two buildings respectively. The former comprises of mainly relics from Boyi Mountain Villa, which were donated by Qishan collector Xu Bo-yi. The relics include wooden sculptures, stone carvings, pottery, puppets and everyday articles found in early Taiwan. In addition, a massive collection of teaching apparatus from the predecessor of NCKU "Tainan Industrial High School" is also on display. Special exhibitions are held in different seasons according to different themes.
