Established in 1662, this is the first Mazu Temple founded by the ordinary people. After Koxinga successfully settled in Taiwan, her renovated Mazu Temple from cottage to brick and from a lodge to a temple in order to honor Mazu’s bliss and emptiness. It was then crowned as “Kaiji”. Duo to its less spacious and magnificent than the Grand Muzu Temple, it’s also widely dubbed “Small Muzu Temple”. Nowadays, Kaiji Mazu Temple is a building sitting west and facing east. The god of its grand hall id Mazu accompanied by two Generals: Qianliyan and Shunfenger. The god of back hall is Guanyin. There are many horizontal inscribed boards in Kaiji Mazu Temple, such as “Hai Tian Hu Wang” and “Zihui”.
